Proximity eCommerce: the services that elevate your store

Proximity eCommerce or proximity eCommerce. This the most lucrative future scenario especially for small business, if it is to hold its own in the increasingly bitter confrontation that, over time, the global eCommerce giants, will be able to sustain. This is definitely a war to the last Vietcong, and just as it happened in the bloody war that saw a giant succumb in comparison with a small country, any small business (but also the large ones localized however locally such as small chains), in order to fight its own battle must create a strong value identity and establish itself in its natural range. Find out how we can help you do that.

Proximity eCommerce: the services that elevate your store

Proximity eCommerce or proximity eCommerce is the new emerging channel that complements that of “fast commerce” because it has the peculiarity of delivering food products from stores to consumers quickly, usually less than an hour and usually even in less than 30 minutes.

In fact, proximity eCommerce is also that whole world of preparing to then go to the pickup (perhaps on the way home) improperly called click and collect.

Why improperly? Because click and collect generally refers to the eCommerce world where one buys and then goes to the store to pick up but without a specific distance definition since, when it first started to make its way, it was more referring to other types of products that, not having transportation and perishability problems (as in the case of groceries) can cope with longer distances.

One of the first examples in Italy was precisely that of MediaWorld, which has already implemented this system for some years, but, of course, if I have to buy a product, for example, of HiFi I can order it to pick it up even in a store far from home but perhaps close to my work.

It is different with regard to food shopping in that the perishability of products, related to travel according to commitments, makes a difference on the convenience of buying in this or that product.

Certainly, implementing a proximity eCommerce channel, can make a difference, for example, for all those who perhaps cross a city on their way to work, can place their grocery order the previous day at the store closest to their work and pick it up before going home (or vice versa).

This is the channel that will be able to integrate a lot with traditional trade and will put the many small stores in a position to survive, because if they don’t do it, the big ones will, and then they will lose this competitive advantage as well.

Currently, velore trade is worth 1.624 billion, and this is precisely a new record according to data from IGD, providers of analytics for the food and durable goods sector.

This record, which is just the first figure in a series testing the size, scope and development of this new business channel, also shows that estimated measurements of the possibility of growth will reach 3.828 billion in the UK alone.

Simon Mayhew, head of Internet retail analytics at IGD, says, “Quick distribution, or ‘easy commerce’ as it is now known, has actually been around for a long time, yet COVID-19 has accurately catapulted its expansion to the factor where it has become a channel in its own right. Its development appears in the UK, but also reported globally.

The report showed that one in three shoppers in the United Kingdom have used, or are even intrigued in using quick commerce, and the top keywords searched to find this service were absolutely “takeaway food,” and “dish for tonight.” The average age of the proximity eCommerce buyer is 36 years old, and its core buyers are teenagers living in urban areas. More than seven out of ten consumers who use or wish to use the new rapid channel may be induced to use it to collect overdue items for important occasions such as summer barbecues, major sporting events, private parties, or get-togethers.

In order to shed light on this brand new channel that is really an open construction site at the moment, and also to help suppliers and retail stores know their operating models, IGD has in fact identified 3 sub-sectors within the channel itself:

Aggregators: third-party Internet sites that provide fulfillment on demand. There are 3 types, which include takeaway services (e.g. Deliveroo), portals that specialize in doing the shopping for you at your place at the nearest establishments (Instacart or Everli ex Supermarket24) and company collectors (Glovo), who use a variety of other companies to improve spending and even buy for you of all-inclusive pharmacy.

These developing operators are effectively building their proposition around a fast shipping company, often with delivery in less than 1 hour. They operate their own order fulfillment centers, often in high-population urban locations for quick shipments.

Retail stores: as well as collaboration with outside companies for shipping. Many shopkeepers are attracted to these companies because they allow you to have an online presence in 2 seconds, they take away the hassles of delivery but the real question a shopkeeper should ask is, “but am I building something for myself and for my children’s future?”

Quick trade is actually a fantastic network if we think about small stores and intense that presents a huge opportunity for them as long as they are willing to equip themselves, otherwise over time they will have to regret not doing so.

Proximity eCommerce with eCommerceVolution®

Do you want to open your own digital store? Do you want to give more customer service?

Do you want to start your online sales business but until now you have only thought about having a website even if it is an eCommerce website?

Proximity ecommerce is a channel to exploit, and you can do so with eCommerceVolution®.

Instead of putting yourself in a big circuit among those named before where you would be nobody, this way you can be online through YOUR APP and the customer will see you and not someone else.

Even if home delivery is a problem for you and you are thinking of solving it through a large portal remember one thing: your store did not raise it within a larger one.

You were on your own and you got this far.

Even for delivery you will have to arrange it yourself or find one of the many precisely c/o third-party delivery services, but it is best to build a business for yourself.

We provide the infrastructure for you to order products and to make sure that your customer can be maximally retained but know that if you intend to do proximity e-Commerce online with a large aggregator you will be more on the side of those who just had the idea of putting up a site to say “I’m there,” but you will never be among those who are going to build a new online store with the intention of developing it as well as you did for your traditional store.

To place yourself within an aggregator is to debase all that plus you can give only if YOUR identity can be highlighted.

Instead, open your own online store and build a major customer loyalty program!

That’s what eCommerceVolution® wants to be! The megaphone that lets everyone hear that YOU ARE THERE!
